Promotion Test Reminder
Dear Sec 3 Cadets,
Please be reminded to read up/ visualise/ practice the various steps required to erect a flagstaff. This Friday will be the 2nd re-test, which is the last test to be conducted for you to pass your flagstaff component required of a Sergeant.
All the reading materials are provided on the right side of this blog. You can click on the Drills and Outdoors Manuals under Training Resource.
Do not take this lightly as the CIs do not have the time to conduct unlimited re-tests. They have to focus on other aspects of training and events too.
Good job to the following Sec 3 cadets who passed the Flagstaff Test:
1. A/Cpl (NPCC) Nuril Ilyanah Sani
2. A/Cpl (NPCC) Siti Raudhah Binte Mohd Latif
(ATTN ALL CADETS!)
Therefore, for every promotion test, there will be one;
1. Main Test
2. First Re-Test
3. Second Re-Test
If you need more time than the above mentioned tests, you will be emplaced with your junior squad to take the same test in the subsequent year.
Thanks.
Regards,
Yi Xiang

Review of Weekly Training (10/04/15)
Dear Unit,
It is great to see that all of you have put in effort for today's training.
For the Sec 1s, your eagerness, enthusiasm, and competitiveness to learn the tentage (especially pegging) is good! Your energy level during the PT session was commendable too! Keep it up, and drink more water after all your shoutings. Hahas.
For the Sec 2s, do not be disheartened. I am sure that with more training, and more diligence on your part to remember what was taught, will help you to build the tents quickly. Teamwork and knowledge are the key ingredients to passing your tent pitching test. Of course, I see another form of teamwork today. Special mention to Kevin, who helped all your squadmates to fill up their water bottles, while they slog away pitching the tents! Keep it up. That is nice.
For the Sec 3s, I believe you all have seen for yourself how a typical Unit Weekly Training is run. So, next week (17/04/15) will be the time for you to commit as many mistakes as you can, because that will be the last time you have the CLs to correct and guide you. Do raise questions that you have with your CLs. I am sure they have the answers to all that you need to know. Focus on the "doing", and absorb the "teachings" from the CLs.
For the CLs, please continue to be physically around next week to meet up and guide your Sec 3s on what to do on 17/04/15. I urge you guys to leave the "doing" to the Sec 3s, and to focus on the "teaching".
Sec 3 appointment holders and CLs, do kindly talk to each other prior to 17/04/15, so all the necessary knowledge can be passed on adequately.
With that, have a good rest and study hard for your upcoming exams.
Thank you.
Regards,
Yi Xiang

After-Camp Thoughts
Dear Unit,
Good job to all cadets who have came, and conquered the various camp activities, so as to step out of your comfort zone! I am glad that most of you would have learnt to not take things for granted, and to appreciate even the simplest thing in life. After all, NPCC isn't just about marching and tying of knots! Hahas. There can be fun activities too, and it depends on how you look at things!
As for the Cadet Leaders, size doesn't matter. You all have accomplished tasks that a squad double your strength can do too. A lot of time, effort, and emotion has been expended, and friendship built stronger. I believe you all have enjoyed the process, and learnt skills along the way that will be useful for your future applications. If a phrase can be used to summarize your squad, let that be "One Squad, One Bang!" Well done, Cadet Leaders.
Lastly, let us not forget to thank our volunteers - Cadets Inspectors and Alumnus, who have committed time towards this camp. With their advice, I believe this camp has been made more meaningful with important learning values.
Do have a good rest and enjoy the remaining holidays. Play hard, and study hard, or harder! =)

Yi Xiang

3rd Class Drill Badge Results
Dear Sec 2s,
This post is regarding on your 3rd Class Badge Results that you have taken on the 6th of March.
I regret to inform you that all of you have not cleared the drill test. But not to worry, there will be a retest soon to make up for the actual test so you will have time to revise.
But before you begin revising on your drills, let me give you a few questions for you to think over the week.
1. Why is it important to learn drills in a Uniformed Group?
2. How will drills benefit me and my squad?
3. Will drills do me any good in the near future?
I hope to receive these answers by Day 1 of your Unit Camp. In the meantime, ensure you're rested up for your unit camp and not forgetting to have fun too! :)

CI (NPCC) Lukas Heng
