Corporal Promotion Test Summary

Dear Sec 2s,

As I have shared with you all today, there is a reason behind all the things that we do in NPCC. It is for yourself that you put in the effort to learn, and for your pride as a Damai NPCC cadet that you want to show others that you are better.

1. PICARD. Think about the true meaning of each letter, relate it back to the examples that I have shared, and reflect on how you can better demonstrate each of those values as a NPCC cadet.

2. Safety. A peg is a peg. It is not a javelin. If you are hoping to get into the Olympic Games, please let me know. I will kindly ask Mr Tan to enrol you in the Singapore Sports School. A peg is a dangerous item and it can injure people, especially since it is made from metal and the tip is sharp. I hope today's "mild corrective education" has drilled some sense into you all. The next time I see anyone doing anything dangerous like today again, I will not hesitate to mete out "stronger corrective education". This applies to everyone, be it you are the culprit or the by-stander, since SAFETY IS EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY.

3. Drills. All of you can do good drills. You have seen for yourself after I stopped you all from coming out individually to give commands. It is a matter of whether you want to self-discipline yourself and demonstrate good solid drills. I hope you all can continue to show a high standard of drills. And most importantly, when you are in a squad, stand still. Absolutely still. No sound, no noise, no movement.

4. Outdoors. Your tent-pitching skills have to improve. The fate of your NCOs and your own shelters during ATC lies in your hands. Train hard during tent-pitching. Treat every minute as though it is the last minute that you have. Demonstrate a sense of urgency! Sitting down to peg or tie isn't going to speed things up. It just shows that you are trying to take things slow and easy. For your knots and lashings, cuts and insufficient rounds (min of 3) were the main killers of your marks. Pay attention to those details while you are tying.

Reminder Notice

Good Day Unit,

This notice serves as a reminder that there will be a Promotion Test for Sec 1s and 2s as well as training for the NCOs during the September Holiday. Do come prepared and revise everything that has been taught to you.

For the Sec 2s, emails on the syllabus to be tested, and an E-Learning Module has been sent out to your ICs a week ago. Hence, by now you should have already done your E-Learning Module. For those of you who are coming for the consultation on 3rd September 2012 (Monday), please prepare by asking only what you do not understand or are unsure of. The consultation should serve as a platform for you to clarify your doubts.


On top of that, there is a Night BBQ prepared by the NCOs for the Unit after the Promotion Test.

Sec 2 Beach Cleaning @ Pasir Ris Park

Attention ALL SEC 2 CADETS,

Please note that there will be an Area 10 Beach Cleaning Activity this Friday, 6 July 2012 at Pasir Ris Park.

Here are the details:

Transport: ONE WAY transport from Damai to Pasir Ris Park

There might be some left over time until dismissal so can the Sec 2 squad nominate 2 people to organize some simple games, e.g. Frisbee, Volleyball etc

Apart from your other NPCC proficiency courses during the June Holidays (Refer to your 2012 May-June NPCC Holiday Activities Letter), there would also be extra training, which is COMPULSARY for everyone (unless with valid reasons or documentation proof). Do take note of the following:

Training for Sec1 and 2 Cadets

Time: 8am-12:30pm

Things to Bring: Water Bottle (0.5-1.5Litre), Writing Materials, 1 Ball of twine each (Or share as a pair)

The training would cover syllabus such as basic drills and campcraft for the Sec1, as well as tentage and lashings for the Sec2. All these would be essential and would be examined in your upcoming promotion test.

Date: 18^th and 19^th June 2012 (Mon and Tue)

Time: 7:30am-6pm

Attire: PT-Kit

Area 10 Swearing In Ceremony ( 24th Feb 2012)

To all Sec 1s, you will be attending Area 10 Swearing In Ceremony and Crime Prevention talk this coming Friday, 24th Feb 2012.
To all Sec 3s, you will be attending Police Youth Ambassador Briefing this coming Friday.
Last but not least, SI candidates you will be going for SI interview on the same date.

One-way Transport will be provided to Bedok South Secondary. Do make your own necessary transport arrangements back home.

Reporting time in Damai Secondary School: 1:30pm. Be punctual as the bus will not wait for you.

[For muslim males you are to proceed to Bedok South Secondary on your own after your Friday Prayers if you are unable to catch the bus on time. Latest reporting time for muslim males at Bedok South Secondary is 2:45pm]
